I like to say I am a professional finger-painter. I also have a good sense of humor, which goes a long way toward creating art. This pony was a challenge for me. When I create sculpture, it’s an object of my own making; whereas, this required working with a set piece. I didn’t want to rush it, but to approach it, instead, in a way which was genuinely authentic to me, yet would generate income for the important cause it represented.
The finished piece makes me very happy. After locating an awesome driftwood base for ‘Artemis,’ finding the perfect balance point to mount him gave that little upward ‘lilt’ to his countenance. The end result is a happy accident.
