Description
I take inspiration from Art Nouveau and Neo-traditional tattoos, and then create delicate gradients with thick, bold flourishes to emphasize movement, while working to find the underlying darkness which exists within beauty. My biggest challenges lie in placing the first stroke of paint on a blank canvas, and then knowing when the piece is completed.
My pony represents the elusion of emotional connectivity, and the struggle to fight the familiar embrace of a dark inner force. The red swirls symbolize bodily harm. The black tendrils are intrusive thoughts, depression, and the absence of self-worth.
Is the pony breaking free from the blackness of the void, or is she powerless to flee from her destruction? Sadly, even if she succeeds in her escape, the painful memories inevitably still linger, and scars are left behind.
